Monet

oil on wood, 8x8"

Monet, original artwork by Mike Geno

I've had the pleasure to meet Kris Lloyd a few times over the years. She's a self taught cheesemaker, and force of nature with a wicket fun sense of humor, from Adelaide Hills in Australia. This last time I saw her representing her Woodside Cheese Writes at Woodside, she handed me this little beauty to take home and paint.

Often her delicate cheeses are perfectly matched with exotic and inventive toppings. This one is straight forward beauty as it's her nod to Monet's gardens at Giverny. They are each hand decorated with fresh herbs and edible flowers, made with South Australian goat's milk to create a delicate curd cut into small squares. The fresh spring flowers visually compliment the bright, citrusy fresh chèvre worthy of its name. All of her cheese offerings are wonderful; if you see them, eat them!
