The lady that has a studio next door to me, Elaine, collects sock monkeys - something I rarely came in contact with. Elaine lives a computer free life. She bought one for the millenium but it's still in the box... soon to be vintage.

 

So when I browsed on ebay, I looked for cheap monkeys and discovered a whole new world! OH YEAH these sock monkey people are super nuts and it's like a subculture! Sure, rubber duckys have made it to target and now anyone can go in and redo thier bathroom in that motif but sock monkeys are a bit more individual. They seem alike but nobody makes em exactly the same.

Plus, they're goofy.

Having some fun painting serious portraits of them. Not sure what to do with them so if anyone sees an opportunity fit for sock monkey portraits, let me know. They're all on 10x8" wood panels.
