From the Bread series.

As it happens, most bakeries and shops are not open when I get the urge to paint something bread-y, early in the week. I'm grateful for having other sources like Riverwards Produce in my neighborhood so I can pick up something tasty to paint when the mood strikes me.

Yesterday I found myself with this beautiful bite, from Mighty Bread Company which was so fun to paint. It was equally great to eat afterwards!

And let's face it, the crumbs are as important as anything, because no one has ever eaten one of these without the shower of flaky bits raining down on them.

The title of this painting stands, because that's how my subject was labeled, in store, in America. To the serious bakers, yes it's "Pain au Chocolat". Regardless, everyone is happy once they taste it; that's what matters.
